The gorgeous cover model who appeared not only on Deception of a Highlander, but also Possession of a Highlander, has been sweet enough to agree to do an interview for my blog. Julian Christian lives in beautiful San Diego, CA and has a passion for surfing and fighting for animal rights. What’s not to love about that?
A majority of the questions below came from all the wonderful suggestions received from readers’ comments on my FB author page. (Thank you SO much, ladies!). Without further ado, let’s let you get to know Julian Christian a little better:
What advice would you give anyone who wants to be a cover model?
Just to have fun with it all and don’t ever take yourself too seriously. Don’t think you are going to make a career out it and get yourself well-rounded as a person.
How does it feel to be the face of many ‘book boyfriend’s?
I think it’s great. I’m very grateful and honored to be on each and every cover I did.
Have you ever been recognized by someone who has seen you on a cover? Anyone ever go fan girl/boy on you?
It’s maybe happened twice but never for a specific cover. Just usually you look like a model on this book I read.
Do you consider yourself a romantic person by nature? (bonus points if you can to share the most romantic thing you’ve ever done)
Oh wow, I certainly try my best. Relationships take work and too often we get lazy. I always try to keep things fresh. I love to cook for my special ladies, that’s my thing.
What was one of your favorite photo shoots?
I love shooting out in nature. Those are so much better than studio stuff.
Does your mom carry around cover shots of you to show off to her friends?
Lol, not really. She is just happy that I never moved back him and can make a living.
How does it feel to see your likeness on so many books?
It’s really neat. I try to create passion into my shoots, so when I do that I am proud.
Do any of your family/friends read the books whose covers you’ve appeared on?
No, not that I am aware of.
Professionally, how would you describe yourself?
Well, I am a pediatric occupational therapist and that’s how I see myself. Modeling and acting are on the side.
How many days/week, hours/day do you work out to stay in such great shape?
Thank you for saying that 🙂 Just an hour and a half 4 to 5 times a week. I surf and hike as well. San Diego is great like that. Year round activities.
Are you a romance reader?
No, sorry. Science fiction and history for me.
What made you decide to do cover modeling for romance novels?
The money, lol. And of course the beauty and art that is in the covers.
Who do you look up to?
No one. And I don’t look down on anyone either.
Do you do other modeling outside of romance novel covers?
Yes, commercial print, fitness magazines. I did PlayGirl a few years back and was their Man of the Year in 2007. Fun times but I have since retired from doing that kind of work.
Have you ever felt uncomfortable during a photo shoot?
No, never. I wouldn’t do it if it wasn’t right for me.
Love to read daily. Especially about current events, politics and social commentary.
Have you ever thought about acting?
Absolutely. I have done a few films and commercials. But like I said I only want to do it part time and mainly for the fun of it.
Anything else you’d like to add?
Extra plug for my activist work: Please follow my animal rights work especially with speaking out against the use of animals in circuses.
