Cover Model Interview – Julian Christian

mensexerciseMadelineMartin_DeceptionOfAHighlander_coverpreviewThe gorgeous cover model who appeared not only on Deception of a Highlander, but also Possession of a Highlander, has been sweet enough to agree to do an interview for my blog. Julian Christian lives in beautiful San Diego, CA and has a passion for surfing and fighting for animal rights. What’s not to love about that?Possession of a Highlander

A majority of the questions below came from all the wonderful suggestions received from readers’ comments on my FB author page. (Thank you SO much, ladies!). Without further ado, let’s let you get to know Julian Christian a little better:

What advice would you give anyone who wants to be a cover model?

Just to have fun with it all and don’t ever take yourself too seriously. Don’t think you are going to make a career out it and get yourself well-rounded as a person.KateHofman_BoredinBarcelona_HR

How does it feel to be the face of many ‘book boyfriend’s?

I think it’s great. I’m very grateful and honored to be on each and every cover I did.

Have you ever been recognized by someone who has seen you on a cover? Anyone ever go fan girl/boy on you?

It’s maybe happened twice but never for a specific cover. Just usually you look like a model on this book I read.

Do you consider yourself a romantic person by nature? (bonus points if you can to share the most romantic thing you’ve ever done)

Oh wow, I certainly try my best. Relationships take work and too often we get lazy. I always try to keep things fresh. I love to cook for my special ladies, that’s my thing.

seal-copyWhat was one of your favorite photo shoots?

I love shooting out in nature. Those are so much better than studio stuff.

Does your mom carry around cover shots of you to show off to her friends?

Lol, not really. She is just happy that I never moved back him and can make a living.

How does it feel to see your likeness on so many books?

It’s really neat. I try to create passion into my shoots, so when I do that I am proud.CoxBiz-midway-outdoors-1

Do any of your family/friends read the books whose covers you’ve appeared on?

No, not that I am aware of.

Professionally, how would you describe yourself? dare

Well, I am a pediatric occupational therapist and that’s how I see myself. Modeling and acting are on the side.

How many days/week, hours/day do you work out to stay in such great shape?

Thank you for saying that 🙂 Just an hour and a half 4 to 5 times a week. I surf and hike as well. San Diego is great like that. Year round activities.

Are you a romance reader?

No, sorry. Science fiction and history for me.

controlledburnWhat made you decide to do cover modeling for romance novels?

The money, lol. And of course the beauty and art that is in the covers.

Who do you look up to?

No one. And I don’t look down on anyone either.

Do you do other modeling outside of romance novel covers?

Yes, commercial print, fitness magazines. I did PlayGirl a few years back and was their Man of the Year in 2007. Fun times but I have since retired from doing that kind of work.

Have you ever felt uncomfortable during a photo shoot?

No, never. I wouldn’t do it if it wasn’t right for me.

ragecover2Do you like to read?

Love to read daily. Especially about current events, politics and social commentary. Pirates WomanCOVER

Have you ever thought about acting?

Absolutely. I have done a few films and commercials. But like I said I only want to do it part time and mainly for the fun of it.

Anything else you’d like to add?

Extra plug for my activist work: Please follow my animal rights work especially with speaking out against the use of animals in circuses.

Thank you so much again to Julian for being so kind and letting me do this interview. I loved reading through the answers and hope everyone else did too. Please comment below saying thank you to Julian for a chance to win a signed copy of Deception of a Highlander.SoulResurrected_cvr_A_rev3

I’m beyond excited to share my gorgeous new cove I’m beyond excited to share my gorgeous new cover for The Last Bookshop in London - a WWII Historical Fiction

The art team at @hanoversquarepress did such a gorgeous job on this cover! I love it so much!!!

Inspired by the true World War II history of the few bookshops to survive the Blitz, The Last Bookshop in London is a timeless story of wartime loss, love and the enduring power of literature.

August 1939: London is dismal under the weight of impending war with Germany as Hitler’s forces continue to sweep across Europe. Into this uncertain maelstrom steps Grace Bennett, young and ready for a fresh start in the bustling city streets she’s always dreamed of—and miles away from her troubled past in the countryside.

With aspirations of working at a department store, Grace never imagined she’d wind up employed at Primrose Hill, an offbeat bookshop nestled in the heart of the city—after all, she’s never been much of a reader. Overwhelmed with organizing the cluttered store, she doesn’t have time to read the books she sells. But when one is gifted to her, what starts as an obligation becomes a passion that draws her into the incredible world of literature.

As the Blitz rains down bombs on the city night after night, a devastating attack leaves the libraries and shops of London’s literary center in ruins. Miraculously, Grace’s bookshop survives the firestorm. Through blackouts and air raids, Grace continues running the shop, discovering a newfound comfort in the power of words and storytelling that unites her community in ways she never imagined—a force that triumphs over even the darkest nights of war-torn London.
